OVERVIEW
Better World x Design (BWxD) is a student-led annual design conference hosted by Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design. Our mission is to use design as a force for good. This year our theme was Re-Frame and we brought in speakers from all disciplines of design to speak about their work, ranging from architecture to industrial design to photography.
MY ROLE
As a member of the graphics team, we established the art direction, created the brand identity, and creating all visual elements of the conference. My work specifically centered on establishing the design system, designing a responsive site, and creating promotional materials.
THE PROBLEM
Our theme this year was Re-frame. We wanted to create designs that exemplified the designer's ability to come up with out of the box solutions.
THE SOLUTION
In the spirit of Re-frame, the background is composed of a grid while the graphical elements break out of the grid frame. We chose vibrant colors and a playful smiley face mascot to bring personality to the conference event. For typography we wanted a blocky display font for the headings that would pair well with the grid background.
DELIVERABLES
The brand identity extended to all elements of the conference including the website, tickets, signage, and merch.
